Why choose the GoDEX RT700x
Clam-shell loadingModern clam-shell design makes it simple to load labels
203 dpi print headPrints at 203 dpi (8 dots/mm), which sets how fine the text, the barcodes and any logo on the label can be.
Up to 7 ipsRated at 7 ips (177mm/s), so a run of labels clears the printer rather than queueing behind it.
108 mm print widthTakes a print width of 4.25" (108mm), which governs the largest label this printer can fill edge to edge.
USB, serial, Ethernet and USB hostConnects by USB 2.0, RS-232 (DB-9), Ethernet (RJ45), USB Host Port, so it drops onto a counter, a bench or a network without an adapter.
Where it fits
- Labels that have to last. Thermal transfer uses a ribbon, so the print does not fade with heat or light the way a direct thermal label does. That is what you want on asset tags, chemical labels and anything stored for months.
- Short life labels. Direct thermal needs no ribbon at all, which makes it the cheaper way to run shipping labels, pick tickets and anything read within weeks rather than years.
- Fitting an existing system. With the standard Godex languages emulation it can usually take the label formats your current software already sends, which matters more than the hardware when you are replacing a printer.

Before you order
- Measure your label. The print width in the specifications is the hard limit. Check your label stock against it, and check the core size your rolls are wound on, before the printer arrives.
- Check the software. This printer speaks the Godex languages. If you are replacing an existing printer, those emulations are usually what lets your current label formats keep working.
- Think about the consumables. The label and ribbon cost outruns the printer cost quickly. Tell us what you are printing and we will quote the stock alongside the hardware.

Frequently asked questions
Does it need a ribbon?
Only in thermal transfer mode. This printer does both: direct thermal needs no ribbon and prints onto heat sensitive label stock, while thermal transfer uses a ribbon to lay ink onto the label. Direct thermal is cheaper to run and fades over months, thermal transfer costs more per label and lasts. Choose per job, the printer does not care.
What does 203 dpi (8 dots/mm) actually mean for my labels?
Resolution is how many dots the head lays down per inch. 203 dpi (8 dots/mm) is the working figure for this model. Higher resolution matters when you are printing small text, fine logos or dense 2D barcodes onto small labels. For plain product and shipping labels the lower resolutions are usually sharper than they need to be already.
How fast is it and how wide can the label be?
Godex rates it at 7 ips (177mm/s) with a maximum print width of 4.25" (108mm). The width is the limit on the label itself: anything wider than that cannot be filled edge to edge, so measure your label stock against that figure before ordering.
How does it connect?
As standard it offers USB 2.0, RS-232 (DB-9), Ethernet (RJ45), USB Host Port. Tell us how the printer will sit on your network when you order and we will confirm you have the right build.
Is label design software included?
Godex supplies its GoLabel design software at no extra cost, which is enough to lay out and print labels without buying a third party package. If you already use a labelling or ERP system you will more likely drive the printer from that instead, through the language emulations listed in the specifications.
Who do I talk to about support?
POS Sales on 1300 026 062. We stock the Godex consumables and spare parts for this range, including print heads and platen rollers, so a worn head does not mean a new printer.
Can I see a sample label before I commit?
Call us on 1300 026 062. Choosing between resolutions and between direct thermal and thermal transfer is much easier against a printed sample of your own artwork than against a specification sheet.
