Linerless Label Printers from POS Sales Australia

Linerless labels carry their adhesive on the back of the thermal stock itself, with no silicone sheet underneath. One continuous roll goes in, the printer trims each label where the content ends, and your team sticks it straight onto the bag, cup or carton. There is nothing to strip away first and nothing to throw out afterwards.

Where these printers earn their keep

  • Quick service and takeaway. Order labels, allergen notices and tamper evident bag seals printed as each docket lands, so the right meal reaches the right customer.
  • Delivery and click and collect. Customer name, order number and pickup slot applied to the parcel or the bag at the moment it is packed.
  • Cafes and bars. Cup labels for milk type and sugar, use by dating on prepped product, and date marking on the cold line.
  • Retail floors and stockrooms. Shelf edge tickets and stock markers that lift off cleanly when the price or the planogram changes.

Our liner free range

Every model below is built for sticky thermal media rather than adapted to it:

  • Star TSP143IV SK. Compact three inch desktop unit on Star's cloud ready platform, printing 80, 58 and 40 mm labels at up to 180 mm per second over USB, Ethernet and Wi-Fi, with CloudPRNT for web based ordering systems.
  • Star TSP654IISK, Ethernet or USB. A proven three inch sticky label printer with a guillotine cutter and a taken sensor, widely used as a drop in alternative to older liner free receipt printers.
  • Bixolon SRP-S300TX. Three inch model for the extreme linerless media class, with a taken sensor and back feed that shortens the gap at the top of each label.
  • Bixolon XL5-40CTE. Four inch unit for larger dispatch and shipping labels, connecting by USB, serial or Ethernet.
  • Epson TM-L90II LFC. Does double duty as a liner free label printer and a receipt printer, with automatic media detection and a label taken sensor.

How to choose

Three questions settle it in most cases. How wide are your labels? Anything up to 80 mm is three inch territory, and only shipping work really calls for the four inch XL5-40CTE. Where will the printer sit? A unit beside the till can run on USB, while a kitchen pass, a packing bench or a cloud ordering platform wants Ethernet, Wi-Fi or CloudPRNT. And does more than one job arrive at once? If it does, choose a taken sensor model so the next label waits until the current one has been pulled off.

Buy the rolls with the printer

Sticky thermal media is not interchangeable with standard die cut labels or receipt paper, so budget for both the hardware and the consumable. You will find compatible stock under Label Rolls, including MAXStick MX-80 linerless sticky labels and 80 mm linerless sticky receipt rolls. For conventional barcode and address labels on backed stock, see our direct thermal label printers.

Care and running costs

Because the adhesive passes directly across the print path, residue gathers on the head, platen and cutter faster than it does in a conventional label printer. A quick clean with a thermal cleaning pen on a set routine keeps cut quality and print contrast where they should be. There is no ribbon or ink to buy with any of these units, so the ongoing cost is the rolls alone.
