Bixolon SRP-S300TX Linerless Label Printer

Deploys like a receipt printer, prints like a label printer. BXL and POS emulation, two drawer ports, USB, and the paper taken sensor fitted from the factory.

203 dpi 170 mm/sec 80 mm wide USB 2.0 2 drawer ports 24 Months Return to Base

If you already run a thermal receipt printer in the lane, the awkward part of adding labelling is usually not the hardware. It is the driver stack, the drawer kick, and finding bench space for a second machine with its own power brick. The SRP-S300TX is designed to sidestep all three: it emulates the printer class your software already knows, it keeps the power supply inside the case, and it drives the drawers you have.

What it emulates and what drives it

The printer speaks BXL and POS emulation, so most point of sale packages that can already send to a thermal printer can send to this one without a bespoke integration. Bixolon supplies Windows, OPOS and JPOS drivers, Linux and Mac CUPS drivers, and a virtual COM driver over USB or Ethernet for software that expects a serial port. For anything built in house there are iOS, Android, Windows and Linux SDKs.

Barcode support is handled on the printer rather than in your application: Codabar, Code 39, Code 93, Code 128, EAN-8, EAN-13, ITF, UPC-A and UPC-E for linear symbols, with Data Matrix, PDF417 and QR Code for two dimensional ones. There is 256 KB of non-volatile image memory for a stored logo, a 4 KB receive buffer and 12 KB of user defined buffer.

Built around linerless media

No backing to discard

The adhesive is on the label itself, so a roll of a given diameter carries more printable length and leaves nothing behind at the counter.

Back-feed before each label

The media is drawn back so the gap above each label falls from 14.6 mm to 4.6 mm, which is around a fifth off the length of a 50 mm job.

Paper saving mode

Tightens the spacing around a printed receipt and can take up to 25 percent off its length.

Replaceable cutter

The guillotine is designed to be changed without a service call, which matters when every label is a cut rather than every sale.

The taken sensor, and why it is fitted

The sensor is an option across the SRP-S300 range and it is present on this build. It detects whether the previous label is still sitting in the exit slot and holds the next one until the slot is clear, which stops two adhesive labels meeting each other and binding the path.

In practice that means a queue of print jobs stays a queue. Orders emerge one at a time in the order your software sent them, which is the behaviour you want when a second person is collecting labels while a first is still serving. The built-in B-Melodist can announce an error in speech and sound a single or repeating alarm when a job is ready.

A desktop label printer is still the right answer when you need a fixed label shape every time, such as a die cut shipping label. The linerless machine wins where the length changes with the order.

Matching consumables

The roll bay takes 80 mm media up to 103 mm in diameter at a thickness of 0.06 to 0.09 mm. We hold 80 mm linerless sticky rolls in 82 m and 80 mm continuous linerless label stock with black marks, both in the right width and diameter for this bay. Linerless adhesives are not all the same class, so confirm the grade against your application before ordering in volume. Our team is on 1300 026 062.

Questions before you deploy

What do I need to confirm before ordering?

Three things. That your media is a linerless extreme grade rather than a sticky or re-stick one, that USB suits the lane because this build has no network port, and that you have 156 mm of bench width and 210 mm of depth at the position you have in mind.

Does it need a separate power brick?

No. The 24 V supply is housed inside the printer, so only the mains lead leaves the case. That is one reason the body is deeper than a comparable label printer.

Can it drive our existing cash drawers?

It has a drawer output that splits into two ports with a y-type adaptor, so a pair of drawers can be triggered from the one printer. Standard RJ-type drawer cabling applies.

Is there a wireless or Ethernet version?

The range is built around an interface option card covering serial, parallel, Ethernet, wireless, Bluetooth and powered USB. The build listed here is the USB one. Call 1300 026 062 with what you need and we will confirm availability before you place the order.

How long does the print head last?

Bixolon rates the thermal print head on this variant at 75 km of media. Head life is consumed by distance printed rather than by hours powered on, so the figure scales with your label length and daily volume.

Will it survive a wet bench?

A water resistant cover protects the main board and carries an IP21 rating, which covers vertically dripping water. It is not rated for being washed down or for standing water, so treat it as splash tolerant rather than waterproof.

What is the warranty?

24 Months Return to Base. If something fails inside the term it comes back to us and we handle the return with the manufacturer.

Delivered Australia wide from POS Sales. If you are standardising a group of sites and want the same printer in every lane, talk to us about volume before you buy the first one.
