The Bixolon SRP-275III is a 9-pin impact (dot-matrix) receipt printer built for environments where thermal output would fade. Unlike thermal printers, it strikes a 2-colour ribbon onto plain bond rolls, so receipts and tickets stay legible under heat, steam, grease and moisture. Is the SRP-275III thermal or impact?
It is a 9-pin impact (dot-matrix) printer, not thermal. It strikes a ribbon onto plain bond paper, which is why it is preferred in kitchens and other hot, greasy or damp environments where thermal receipts would fade.
What paper and ribbon does it use?
It uses 76mm (3") plain bond paper rolls, not thermal rolls, plus a 2-colour ribbon (ERC-38 or a compatible GRC-220 / ERC-30 / ERC-34 cartridge). You will need both bond rolls and a ribbon to print. Can the SRP-275III print 2-ply duplicate dockets?
Yes. Because it is an impact printer, the print head strikes through the ribbon with enough force to mark a second sheet, so a
2-ply carbonless bond roll gives you two physical copies from one print: typically one for the kitchen or the job, and one for the customer or the file. A thermal printer cannot do this at all, since it only marks the sheet it heats. Use our
76x76 2-ply bond rolls, and keep to plain paper: thermal stock will not mark properly in an impact printer. If you need
three copies rather than two, the
Element RW337D takes 3-ply and this model does not.
Can it print in two colours?
Yes. With a 2-colour ribbon fitted, the SRP-275III prints in black and red, which is handy for highlighting totals, voids or priority kitchen orders.

Do I need to install a driver before connecting via USB?
Yes, install the Bixolon driver first, then connect the USB cable. Plugging in before the driver is installed is the most common cause of a printer that will not print. Drivers are free from the Bixolon support site.
Will it work with my POS software?
The SRP-275III is ESC/POS compatible and works with most POS systems. Some cloud POS platforms (for example Square) only support a specific list of hardware, so check your POS provider's supported-hardware list, or call us on 1300 026 062 and we will confirm compatibility before you buy.

Duplicate dockets without a second printer
An impact mechanism does something no thermal printer can manage: it strikes hard enough to mark more than one sheet. Load a 2-ply carbonless bond roll and every print produces two separate dockets in one pass, so the kitchen, the workshop or the delivery driver keeps one while the customer or the filing tray gets the other. There is no reprint, no second device, and no risk of the two copies disagreeing. Stock up on 76x76 2-ply bond rolls, or see the full multi-ply paper rolls range.
