Not every screen in a venue is a till. The Element K22A is the panel for the other ones: the display the kitchen reads tickets from, the post a customer orders at without queueing, the check in screen in a reception, the board above the counter that shows the menu. It is a 21.5 inch Full HD Android panel PC running Android 13 with Google Mobile Services under EDLA, on a MediaTek MT8390 with 8GB of memory and 64GB of storage, and because it is a certified Android device your software installs through the Play Store rather than through a side load.
It is also deliberately plain in the ways that matter in a working venue. There is no fan, so there is nothing pulling kitchen air through the electronics and nothing to hear in a quiet room. The front is 7H hardness glass with ten point capacitive touch and a 16.16mm bezel. The whole panel is 37.9mm deep and takes a VESA 100 mount. And it can draw power over Ethernet instead of a separate adaptor, which often decides whether a screen can go where you actually want it.
One thing to specify at orderHDMI and audio out are not fitted as standard. They are a build option on the K22A. For most of the jobs this panel is bought for, a kitchen display, a self order post, a menu board, the app runs on the device and neither port is needed. Frequently Asked Questions
Can the K22A run as a kitchen display system?
Yes, that is one of the roles it is built for, and the fanless design is the reason it suits the job. A fan in a kitchen pulls airborne grease and flour through the chassis and eventually clogs it. With no fan there is no intake path. Pair it with your KDS app from the Play Store and a VESA mount above the pass.
Does it come with a stand?
No. The part number reads N/STD, so the unit ships without one and uses its 100 mm x 100 mm VESA pattern. That suits wall, pole and arm mounting, which is how most kitchen and signage screens are installed. If you want it standing on a counter, ask us and we will quote a VESA desk stand with it.
What is EDLA and why does it matter?
EDLA is Google's Enterprise Devices Licensing Agreement, the programme that lets a dedicated device ship with licensed Google Mobile Services. In practice it means the Play Store and Google services are genuinely present, so a commercial Android app installs and updates normally instead of being side loaded. It also means the device gets the Google security baseline rather than a vendor fork.
How many things can I plug into it?
Eight USB ports in total: 3 x USB-C 3.0, 2 x USB 3.0 Type A and 3 x USB 2.0 built in peripheral ports rated at 5V 0.5A. There is also a Micro SD slot taking SDHC 2.0 cards and a 10/100/1000 LAN port. That is enough for a scanner, a payment terminal and a camera without a hub.
Is 225 nits bright enough?
For indoor use, yes. 225 nits with a 1000:1 contrast ratio and 178 degree viewing angles reads cleanly in a kitchen, at a counter or on an interior wall. It is not a high brightness panel designed to compete with direct sunlight through a shopfront window, so if the screen will face glass, tell us and we will suggest something brighter.
How does it compare with the K22W?
The chassis, the 21.5 inch Full HD panel, the 7H glass and the VESA mounting are the same. The difference is the computer: the K22A is Android 13 on a MediaTek MT8390 with 8GB and 64GB and the PoE option, while the K22W is Windows 11 IoT on an Intel Celeron J6412 with a 128GB SSD, memory expandable to 32GB and a real RS232 serial port. Choose on your software, not on the hardware.
