The Element K22W is built for exactly that position: a 21.5 inch full flat touch terminal running Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2024, pre installed, on an Intel Celeron J6412. LTSC matters here. It is the long term servicing branch, so the machine is not going to reboot itself into a feature update in the middle of a Friday night service.
The specification is sensible rather than showy. 8GB of SO-DIMM DDR4 at 3200MHz that you can take to 32GB later, a 128GB M.2 SSD instead of eMMC, and a genuine RS232 serial port for the pole display, scale or older printer that a modern machine usually strands. One of the three USB-C ports carries DisplayPort Alt Mode and PD 2.0, so a second screen or a powered peripheral runs off a single cable. It is fanless, which keeps it silent at a counter and keeps kitchen air out of the electronics, and it mounts on VESA 100.

Which Windows is on it, and will it force updates on me?
Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2024 Entry, 64 bit, pre installed. LTSC stands for long term servicing channel, which is the edition built for fixed function machines: it takes security updates but not the twice yearly feature updates that change the interface and demand a reboot. For a till that has to be up at opening, that is the point of it.
Can I add memory or storage later?
Memory yes, and it is one of the better things about this unit. It ships with 8GB of SO-DIMM DDR4 3200MHz and takes up to 32GB, so a machine bought today can be given more headroom in a few years instead of being replaced. Storage is a 128GB M.2 SSD, which is a proper drive rather than soldered eMMC.
Does it have a serial port?
Yes, 1 x RS232 on a DB9 connector. This is often the deciding spec. A lot of working POS peripherals in Australian venues, pole displays, scales, some label and kitchen printers, are still serial, and most modern all in ones have dropped the port entirely. Having it native means no USB to serial adaptor sitting in the way and no driver to go missing after an update.
What can I run off the USB-C ports?
There are 2 x USB-C 3.0 plus a third USB-C 3.0 that supports DisplayPort Alt Mode and PD 2.0. That third one is the useful one: it can drive a second display over the same cable that powers a peripheral, which is how you add a customer facing screen without another power brick under the counter. There are also 2 x USB 3.0 Type A ports.
Is it quiet enough for a dining room?
It is fanless, so there is nothing in it that makes noise at all. That also means no air intake, so none of the grease and flour that circulates in a kitchen gets pulled across the electronics. Both matter more than people expect over a three year life.
