Nexa NP-1653+ Dual Display POS Terminal

A 15 inch Windows touch terminal with a 10.1 inch customer screen fitted on the back, so the person paying can follow the sale without a separate monitor on your counter.

15 inch PCAP, 1024 x 768 10.1 inch rear display Intel N97 fanless 8GB / 120GB SSD Windows 11 IoT Enterprise included 24 Months Return to Base

The Nexa NP-1653+ Dual Display, part number NP1653+DD, is an all in one Windows POS terminal carrying two screens on one chassis. Your staff work on a 15 inch 4:3 projected capacitive touch panel running at 1024 x 768. Facing the other way, across the counter, a 10.1 inch LCD shows the customer what is being rung up. Both are driven by a single fanless Intel N97 quad core processor with 8GB of DDR4 memory and a 120GB SSD, and the terminal arrives with Windows 11 IoT Enterprise already installed and licensed.

Buying this costs less than building it POS Sales sells the pieces separately too, so the arithmetic is easy to check. The Nexa NP-1653+ terminal is $1,259 and the Nexa NP-1653 10.1 inch customer display is $319, which comes to $1,578. This dual display build is $1,499, arrives already assembled and cabled, and gives your bookkeeper one asset and one serial number rather than two. If you are fitting out more than one till, that difference compounds.

Why choose the dual display build

The display is already on itThis is the NP-1653+ with the 10.1 inch customer screen fitted at the factory, not a terminal with a monitor added afterwards. One chassis, one power lead, one part number.
Cheaper than buying the twoAt $1,499 the dual display build undercuts the NP-1653+ at $1,259 plus the NP-1653 10.1 inch customer display at $319, and it arrives assembled.
1024 x 768 capacitive frontThe operator works on a 15 inch 4:3 TFT panel with projected capacitive touch, the same glass-over-sensor technology used on a phone, so it reads a light touch and ignores a sleeve.
Silent, with no fan to clogThe Intel N97 quad core runs to 3.60GHz without a fan. Nexa rates it nearly 50 percent quicker than the previous generation of this terminal.
Six USB and two serialFour USB 2.0, two USB 3.0, two COM ports, gigabit Ethernet, VGA and an RJ11/12 drawer jack, so a printer, scanner, drawer, scale and pin pad all have somewhere to go.
24 month cover, onsite availableA 24 Months Return to Base warranty as standard, with a 3 year onsite upgrade available for sites that cannot send a terminal away.

What the customer screen changes

A customer who can see the screen asks fewer questions. Line items appear as they are scanned, so a wrong price or a double scan gets caught in the moment instead of at the total, and the person waiting has something to look at other than the back of your monitor. It also gives you somewhere to put the prompts that otherwise interrupt a transaction: loyalty sign ups, email receipts, tipping, charity round ups. Between sales the panel is a 10.1 inch advertising space at eye level on the counter, which is worth more than it sounds in a shop where most customers queue for a minute or two. None of this needs a second power point, a bracket or a video lead, because the display is part of the terminal.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from the standard Nexa NP-1653+?
The hardware underneath is the same terminal: same 15 inch capacitive screen, same Intel N97, same 8GB and 120GB SSD, same ports and same case. The difference is that this part number has the 10.1 inch customer display mounted on the back and wired in from the factory. The standard NP-1653+ lists that display as an option, so on that model you specify it at build time or go without.
Is it cheaper to buy this or to add the display to a standard terminal?
This one. The NP-1653+ on its own is $1,259 and the NP-1653 10.1 inch customer display is $319, which is $1,578 for the pair, against $1,499 for the dual display build. You also avoid mounting and cabling the display yourself, and you have one part number to quote on a service call instead of two.
What resolution are the screens?
The operator panel is a 15 inch 4:3 TFT at 1024 x 768 with projected capacitive touch. The brochure does not publish a resolution for the 10.1 inch rear panel, so we are not going to quote one. It is sized for line items, totals and a promotional image rather than for detailed work.
Does the customer display accept touch input?
No. Nexa specifies the 10.1 inch second display as an LCD without touch. Everything is entered on the front screen by your staff, which is usually what you want on a customer facing panel anyway.
Is it noisy on a quiet counter?
No, because there is no fan in it. The Intel N97 is cooled passively, which also means there is no intake pulling airborne dust, flour or hair spray through the electronics. That matters in bakeries, salons and anywhere the air is not clean.
How many peripherals can I run from it?
Six USB ports, two of them USB 3.0, plus two serial ports, gigabit Ethernet, VGA and a powered RJ11/12 cash drawer port. A typical counter uses one USB for the printer, one for the scanner, one for the pin pad and the drawer port for the till, which leaves room to spare.
Can I run Linux on it instead of Windows?
The platform supports it. Nexa lists Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSB or Linux for the NP-1653+. The unit we stock is supplied with Windows 11 IoT Enterprise preloaded and licensed in the price, so moving to Linux means reimaging it yourself and you lose the value of the included licence.
How big and heavy is it?
The terminal is 356 mm wide, 346 mm high and 222 mm deep and weighs 4.3 kg net. Those are Nexa's figures for the terminal itself. The rear display adds to the height and the shipped weight, so allow a margin when you are measuring a tight counter.
What does the warranty cover and can it be extended?
It comes with 24 Months Return to Base, meaning a faulty unit is returned to us for assessment and repair or replacement. Nexa also offers a 3 year onsite warranty covering most areas, which is worth considering for a single till site that cannot operate with the terminal away. Call POS Sales on 1300 026 062 and we will check whether your address is covered.

Application use cases

  • Cafes and quick service where the customer sees the order building as it is entered and corrections happen before the coffee is made rather than after.
  • Pharmacy and health retail where showing the price of each item as it is scanned heads off disputes at the end of a basket.
  • Bottle shops and convenience running promotions on the rear screen between sales instead of paying for a separate advertising display.
  • Salons and clinics where a fanless terminal keeps dust and product overspray out of the electronics and makes no noise in a quiet room.
  • Single till sites that want the customer facing display without the cabling, the bracket and the second power point a standalone monitor needs.
  • Multi site rollouts standardising on one part number, with Windows 11 IoT Enterprise already licensed and imaged on every unit that lands.

Fitting out the whole counter? Add a receipt printer and a cash drawer.
