The Opticon OPN-2006 is a pocket-sized Bluetooth 1D laser companion scanner for mobile barcode capture in retail, inventory, asset tracking and field work. Weighing only about 28 grams, it fits on a lanyard or in a pocket and reads all popular 1D barcodes with a high-speed laser engine. Pair it over Bluetooth to a phone, tablet or PC to send scans in real time, or work disconnected and let it store up to 20,000 barcodes in memory, then upload them later over the supplied USB cable. It is part of Opticon's proven OPN-2000 companion-scanner series.
Why choose the OPN-2006
Fast 1D laser scanning A high-speed laser engine reads up to 100 scans per second across all popular 1D barcodes, including UPC, EAN, Code 39, Code 128 and GS1 DataBar.
Bluetooth 3.0 Connects to iOS, Android and Windows devices over Bluetooth with HID and SPP profiles, sending scans straight into your app in real time.
20,000-barcode memory No connection needed. Scan offline and the OPN-2006 stores up to 20,000 barcodes, then uploads them over USB when you are back at the desk.
Pocket-sized and light At roughly 62 x 32 x 16mm and about 28 grams, it fits in a pocket or on the included neck lanyard for all-day carrying.
USB-rechargeable battery A built-in lithium-ion battery recharges over USB and delivers up to around 12 hours of operation, enough for a full shift.
Clear scan feedback Audible and visible (LED) confirmation on every successful scan, and through Bluetooth HID it types into any app like a keyboard, with no special software.

How it fits your workflow
Clip the OPN-2006 to a lanyard and pair it to your phone or tablet to scan stock, assets or tickets straight into your app over Bluetooth. Out of range or working in the aisle? Keep scanning and it banks up to 20,000 barcodes in memory, then transfers them over the supplied USB cable when you return. Because it presents over Bluetooth HID as a keyboard, scanned data drops into most inventory, POS and spreadsheet apps with no driver to install.

Frequently asked questions
What is a companion scanner, and what does the OPN-2006 do?
A companion scanner is a small, wearable barcode scanner that works alongside a phone, tablet or PC rather than as a full handheld terminal. The OPN-2006 reads 1D barcodes and sends them over Bluetooth to your device, or stores them in memory to upload later, which makes it ideal for stocktakes, inventory and mobile work.
Does it read QR codes or 2D barcodes?
No. The OPN-2006 is a 1D laser scanner, so it reads standard linear barcodes such as UPC, EAN, Code 39 and Code 128, but not QR codes or other 2D codes. If you need to scan QR or 2D codes, choose a 2D imager instead.
Can it scan without being connected?
Yes. When it is out of Bluetooth range or you prefer to work offline, the OPN-2006 stores up to 20,000 barcodes in its memory. Plug it into a PC with the supplied USB cable to upload the stored scans in one batch.
How do I pair it, and will it work with my app or POS?
It pairs over Bluetooth with iOS, Android and Windows devices using the HID and SPP profiles. In HID mode it behaves like a wireless keyboard, so scans type straight into most inventory, POS and spreadsheet apps with no driver. Some apps use SPP or a Bluetooth SDK, so confirm your app supports Bluetooth barcode input, or call us on 1300 026 062 before you buy.
How is it powered and charged?
It has a built-in lithium-ion battery that recharges over the supplied USB cable and gives up to around 12 hours of operation per charge, enough for a full shift of scanning.
What warranty does it come with?
The OPN-2006 carries the standard Opticon manufacturer warranty. Call our team on 1300 026 062 to confirm the current warranty term.
