Every other Posiflex terminal we stock runs a Celeron behind a 1024 x 768 panel. The RT-5016 does not. It carries an Intel Skylake Core i3-6100U at 2.30GHz with 3MB of cache and a 15.6 inch screen at 1920 x 1080, which changes what the terminal can be asked to do.
Full HD is about layout, not looks. A full menu grid, a table plan or a long order list fits on one screen where 1024 x 768 would force staff to page, and paging is the thing that costs seconds per order at peak. The Core i3 keeps that responsive when a browser based back office or a payment application runs alongside. The chassis is the usual RT: super slim, bezel free, fanless, die-cast aluminium, with three serial ports, one USB 3.0, three USB 2.0, LAN, VGA and mini DisplayPort. It is supplied without a base, with 4GB of DDR4, a 128GB SSD and Windows 10 IoT 64 bit preloaded.
Full HD first, memory secondThis build pairs the best screen in the range with its entry memory configuration, 4GB. That is the right trade for a venue whose problem is screen real estate: a big menu on a small panel. If the problem is instead a terminal juggling several applications, the 8GB RT-2015 or RT-2015Q in the table below will serve better for less money.

What makes the RT-5016 different from the RT-2015?
Two things: a 15.6 inch 1920 x 1080 screen instead of a 15 inch 1024 x 768 one, and a Core i3-6100U instead of a Celeron J1900. The chassis design, the fanless cooling and the port set follow the same RT pattern.
Who actually needs Full HD on a till?
Anyone whose layout does not fit. A large menu, a table map or a long order list on a 1024 x 768 screen means paging, and paging costs seconds on every order at the busiest time of day.
Is a Core i3 necessary for point of sale?
Not for a till alone. It earns its place when the terminal also runs browser reporting, loyalty or a payment client beside the point of sale.
Why does it ship without a base?
This part number is the no base build for arm, wall or counter mounting. Tell us what you are mounting to on 1300 026 062 and we will confirm the fit.
Is it fanless like the rest of the range?
Yes, cooled through the die-cast aluminium housing with no fan and no vent.
