Nexa built the PX610II to a price, and they were sensible about where the money went. You get 250 mm per second at 203 dpi, a 150 km print head and a cutter rated to 1.5 million cuts. All three interfaces are fitted at the factory, so there is no card to add later and no USB-only variant to trip over. Paper drops in from the top. There is a 24V drawer port on the back for your cash drawer, and it speaks ESC/POS like every other receipt printer your POS has dealt with. Two year warranty.

What you get

250 mm per secondReceipts print and cut before most customers have put their card away.
All three interfaces, fittedUSB, RS232 serial and Ethernet, standard. Plug it into the till, hang it off the network so a second terminal can use it, or run it on serial if you are keeping an older system alive. Nothing extra to buy.
150 km print headThis is the number to check on a cheap printer, because the head is usually what goes first. Plenty of printers around this money are rated at 100 km.
Cutter rated to 1.5 million cutsThree hundred dockets a day would take you past a decade.
Paper drops straight inLid up, roll in, lid down. No threading, and it cannot go in the wrong way round, so anyone on shift can change it mid-service.
ESC/POSThe standard receipt printer command set. If your POS already drives a thermal printer, it will almost certainly drive this one.

What is on the back

It measures 191 mm wide, 140 deep and 143 tall. The lid lifts for the roll, and there is a feed button and three status lights on top. The back panel carries USB, a DB9 serial socket, Ethernet, a 24V RJ11 / RJ12 drawer port and the DC input for the supplied adapter. All of that is standard on every PX610II, so there is no cut-down version of this model to end up with by mistake. The parts that wear are the print head, rated at 150 km of paper, and the guillotine, rated to 1.5 million cuts.

Questions we get asked

Which interface should I use?
Whichever suits the site, because all three are there. USB if the printer sits beside the till. Ethernet if two terminals need to share it, or if the printer lives somewhere else entirely, say a bar or a coffee station. Serial if you are still running a POS that expects it. You are not committing to anything when you order, and changing your mind later costs you a cable.
Will it work with my POS software?
Most likely. It runs ESC/POS, the command set nearly every receipt printer and nearly every POS has used for years, and Nexa list drivers for Windows XP through 11, Linux and Mac. The exception is cloud POS platforms that only certify specific models. If yours is one of those, check its hardware list, or ring us on 1300 026 062 and we will look before you buy.
Does it come with cables and a power supply?
Yes: printer, USB cable, power cable and the 24V 2.5A adapter. You can have it printing over USB straight out of the carton. Ethernet and serial cables are not included.
Can I plug a cash drawer into it?
Yes, there is a 24V RJ11 / RJ12 port on the back. The POS tells the printer to kick the drawer open at the end of a sale, which is how most counters are wired. Most drawers with an RJ11 or RJ12 cable will work with it. Have a look at the Nexa cash drawers, or call us and we will match one up.
Does it have a low paper warning?
Nexa list the paper end sensor as optional on this model, so do not count on one being fitted. In practice staff see the roll when they lift the lid. If your POS genuinely reads a paper-out signal, ring us on 1300 026 062 and we will confirm what is in the box before you order.
What paper does it take?
Standard 80 mm thermal rolls, dropped straight in, up to an 80 mm roll diameter. Printed width is 72 mm. Keep an eye on that 80 mm diameter if you buy in bulk: the usual 80 x 80 roll fits, anything bigger will not.
Can I use it as a kitchen printer?
Over Ethernet, yes, and plenty of sites run one that way. Just remember it prints on thermal paper. A docket sitting above a grill will go dark, and one filed in a drawer fades over a few months. For a hot kitchen an impact printer is the better tool. For a bar, a coffee station or a dry prep bench, this is fine.
How big is it, and how long will it last?
191 mm wide, 140 deep, 143 tall. Two parts wear out: the head, rated at 150 km of paper, and the cutter, at 1.5 million cuts. Those are the two numbers worth comparing when you are looking at budget printers, and the PX610II does well on both.
What is the warranty?
Two years, return to base, against manufacturing defects. Nexa also sell an advance replacement upgrade on this model, which is worth asking about if a dead printer would stop you trading. Give us a call on 1300 026 062 before you order if you want it.

You will need rolls

80 mm thermal, up to an 80 mm roll diameter. A box of 80 x 80 will keep it fed for a while.
