The Star Micronics TSP143IV UEWB is the fully connected model in the TSP143IV thermal receipt printer range. Star describes it as the premium model in the series, and connectivity is the reason: dual-band Wireless LAN, Bluetooth, Ethernet and USB are all included in the one unit out of the box. Most sites pick a receipt printer by how it will be connected, then get caught out when the layout changes. A cabled Ethernet printer is awkward once the counter moves, and a USB-only unit ties the printer to one terminal. The UEWB sidesteps that. Does the TSP143IV UEWB connect over Wi-Fi?
Yes. Dual-band Wi-Fi is built in and works on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks. This is the wireless model in the TSP143IV range, so no add-on adapter is required. If you want a wired-only printer instead, the standard TSP143IV connects over USB and Ethernet.
Can it also connect by Bluetooth?
Yes. Bluetooth sits alongside Wi-Fi, Ethernet and USB, which is what the UEWB part number denotes. That makes it a practical fit for tablet point of sale where you want the till to pair directly with the printer rather than route through the network.
What is CloudPRNT, and do I need a PC?
CloudPRNT is Star's technology for printing from cloud and web applications. If your point of sale runs in a browser or in the cloud, the printer collects and prints jobs itself, so no PC or print server is needed on site. If you run a traditional installed POS you can ignore CloudPRNT and connect over USB or Ethernet as normal.
What paper does it use?
Standard 80 mm direct thermal receipt rolls, up to 83 mm roll diameter. A roll guide is included so you can convert it to 58 mm if that is the width you already buy. Changing width is a physical guide, not a hardware swap.
Will this work with my POS software?
Star's TSP100 and TSP143 family is one of the most widely supported receipt printer ranges in retail and hospitality, and the TSP143IV supports iOS, Android, Windows and web or cloud applications. As the UEWB is the newest model in the range it is still worth confirming your platform lists it. What is the difference from the standard TSP143IV?
Same printer mechanism, same chassis, different connectivity. The standard TSP143IV gives you USB and wired Ethernet. This UEWB model adds dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on top of Ethernet and USB. Choose the UEWB if you need a wireless or tablet-paired till, and the standard model if every printer sits on a network cable.
Do I need an external power brick?
No. The power supply is inside the printer and the Australian power cables are supplied, so there is nothing extra to mount under the counter.
What warranty does it come with?
Star Micronics covers the TSP143IV UEWB with a 2 Years Return to Base warranty. If a unit needs attention within that period, contact POS Sales on 1300 026 062 and we will arrange the return.
