The Zebra DS9308 is a corded 1D and 2D barcode scanner built for the retail counter, where staff present items to it for fast, hands-free checkout, then lift it out of its stand for handheld scanning of bulky or fixed items. Yes. It is a 2D area imager, so it reads 1D and 2D codes including QR Code, Data Matrix and PDF417, and it captures codes displayed on a phone or tablet screen, such as mobile coupons, loyalty cards and digital tickets.
Is it hands-free or handheld?
Both. The DS9308 sits in its included stand for hands-free presentation scanning, where you simply present an item to it. You can also lift it out and use it as a handheld scanner for larger or fixed items.
Does it need charging or batteries?

The DS9308 connects over USB as an HID keyboard-wedge, so it types scanned data straight into the active field and works with the majority of POS and inventory systems with no driver. How do I set it up?
Plug the 2 m USB cable into your POS terminal or PC and the scanner powers on, ready to scan in its default USB HID mode.
