Hands Free 2D Presentation Scanner
Cino FuzzyScan S680 2D Presentation Barcode Scanner
A 90 mm square footprint, a stand that doubles as the mounting bracket, and 135 degrees of tilt. The S680 is the presentation scanner you can actually find room for.

Counter space is the constraint nobody puts in the specification. A presentation scanner has to face the customer, sit where the operator can reach it, clear the eftpos terminal and the receipt printer, and not get knocked off the end of the bench by the third delivery of the morning. Cino designed the S680 around that problem as much as around the scanning. The base occupies 90 mm square, the stand tilts through 135 degrees so the scanner can look where it needs to from wherever it ends up, and the same stand bolts to a wall, the underside of a bench, the side of a host machine or the inside of a kiosk with no extra hardware to buy. The reading performance is set out in the specifications further down.
Where you can put it
On the counter, facing outThe obvious one. A 90 mm square base and a 148.5 mm height keep it out of the way of a terminal and a printer on a bench that is already full.
Bolted to a wallThe stand carries the mounting points, so the scanner goes on a wall at the end of a lane or beside a service window without a bracket on the order.
Under a benchMounted underneath and tilted back, it reads items held beneath the counter edge, which is how a lot of pharmacy and service desks prefer to work.
Inside a kioskSelf service terminals need a scanner behind a window with a known orientation. The tilt range covers the geometry without a custom mount.
Held to the counter by magnetsAn optional affixing magnet kit pins the base down so it cannot be dragged off by a cable, while still letting an operator lift the scanner off for handheld use.
Moved later without regretEvery one of those positions uses the same part you already own. Changing your mind about placement costs nothing but the time to move it.
135 degrees of tilt, and why it matters
The stand swings from 45 degrees forward to 90 degrees back, a 135 degree range. The forward end lets the scanner look down at items placed flat on the counter. The backward end lets it look up at the underside of something held above it, which is what happens with a large box or a heavy tray that nobody wants to turn over.
Most presentation scanners give you one angle and a shim. Having the range built in means the same unit works on a low wrapping bench and a high service counter, and it means the installer adjusts rather than returns.
Compact without being fragile
At 150 grams and 90 mm square, the S680 is small enough to be pushed around by a cable, which is what the magnet kit addresses. The enclosure itself is rated for multiple 1.5 metre drops to concrete and sealed to IP52, so a unit that does get knocked off a bench is not automatically a replacement.
Illumination comes from a 660 nm LED behind the window, with a proximity sensor that raises it as an item approaches. On a counter facing a customer for eight hours, that is a courtesy as much as a power saving.
Fitting it to the software
- USB keyboard is the default. The scanner types what it reads into whatever field has focus, with nothing installed on the host. That covers the overwhelming majority of tills, cloud POS included.
- USB VCOM where a COM port is expected. Software that opens a serial port gets one over the USB cable, without serial hardware on the counter.
- RS232 for the equipment that still needs it. The S680 also speaks standard RS232 for hosts with a genuine serial port, such as older terminals and kiosk controllers.
- One barcode configures a unit. Cino's iCode carries a whole configuration in a single printed barcode, which is how a replacement unit on a lane is commissioned in a minute rather than reprogrammed by hand.
Mounting positions and what each one suits
| Position | Tilt | Typical site | Extra parts |
|---|
| Counter top | Forward to level | Retail and hospitality tills | None, or the magnet kit |
| Wall mounted | Level to back | Service windows, lane ends, price checking | None |
| Under bench | Tilted back | Pharmacy, clinics, wrapping benches | None |
| Host machine side | Level | Weighing stations, label stations | None |
| Inside a kiosk | Set to the window | Self checkout and self service | None |
Every position above uses the stand that comes with the scanner. Cino calls this the mounting kit free design, and it is the practical reason the S680 ends up in self service projects.

Before you order
- Tell us where it is going. Counter, wall, under bench or kiosk changes the cable run and sometimes the cable length, which is easier to sort before despatch than after.
- Ask about the EAS version. Cino builds a variant that deactivates Checkpoint electronic article surveillance tags while it scans, saving a separate deactivation pad on the counter. It is a different part number.
- Consider the magnet kit. On an open counter with a taut cable, the affixing magnet kit is the difference between a scanner that stays put and one that is on the floor by Friday.
- Confirm the interface. USB keyboard suits almost every till. Say so if your software wants a COM port or a POS device class and we will confirm the configuration before it ships.

Frequently asked questions
Can it be mounted upside down under a counter?
Yes. The stand carries the mounting points and the tilt range covers the angle, so an under bench installation reads items held below the counter edge. Tell us the orientation and we will confirm the cable exit works for it.
Does mounting it need a separate kit?
No, and that is the point of the design. Wall, under counter, host machine and kiosk mounting all use the stand supplied with the scanner. The only optional part is the magnet kit, which holds a counter top unit down.
How much counter does it take up?
The base is 90.4 by 90.1 mm and the scanner stands 148.5 mm tall. For comparison, that is a footprint smaller than a coffee cup saucer, which is why it suits benches that are already crowded.
Does the stand hold its angle?
It is a friction joint rather than a click stop, so it holds where it is set and adjusts without tools. On a counter where several people use the scanner, that is usually what you want.
Can one person lift it off and scan by hand?
Yes. The scanner comes off the base and has a trigger for items too large to pass across the window, which is a real advantage over a scanner built into the bench.
What happens if it gets knocked onto the floor?
Cino rates the enclosure for multiple drops from 1.5 metres onto concrete and seals it to IP52. A fall from counter height is within that, which is more than can be said for most desktop scanners in this class.
Will it read codes on a phone held up by a customer?
Yes, and Cino specifies it for screens at low brightness rather than only bright ones. Vouchers, passes and loyalty codes read without asking the customer to adjust anything.
What does the warranty cover?
A 24 Months Return to Base term on the scanner and its stand. Return to base means the unit comes back to us, we assess it and repair or replace it, with the whole process handled in Australia.
Planning a self service laneThe S680 is a common choice inside kiosks and price check posts because the mounting is already solved and the scan field is forgiving for an untrained user. Send us the enclosure drawing or a photograph and we will tell you whether the geometry works before you commit.
